Nazareth College of Pharmacy is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and Pharmacy Council of India and is offering full time Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) of duration 4 Years .

Nazareth College of Pharmacy has been designed to be the centre of excellence for Pharmaceutical Sciences in Kerala. The profession of pharmacy has transformed into a hub for the ”Global Healthcare” and evolved as a multidisciplinary, multifaceted curriculum.

Its involvement is deep as it has an important role in all events: from discovery of new drug molecule to its evaluation, development, approval for human consumption, manufacture and every other important aspect.

Our academic system has been framed taking into consideration the responsibility of students to meet the demands of hi-tech pharmaceutical industry, at the same time ensuring that they confidently serve the requirements of patient care and pharmacy practice.

Since its inception, we have made conscious efforts to inculcate research aptitude in its students at all levels to keep them abreast of the requirements of the industry. The efforts are visible in the sizeable number of publications at both national and international level. Through the years, the Institute has been able to establish strong bonds with the industry at local as well as national levels for training and placement activities.

 

4 Year Bachelor of Pharmacy Course Details

Eligibility Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent then to by the Kerala University of Health Sciences, with 50% mark in Biology/Mathematics/Bio-tech/Computer Science separately and 50% mark in physics, chemistry and biology/ Mathematics/ Bio-tech/ Computer science put together are eligible.The B.Pharm course is of four years duration, with University examinations at the end of each year and includes one month internship/practical training and industrial visit.
Duration The course of study for B.Pharm shall extend over a period of four academic years and three academic years for those admitted to II year directly.
Industrial Tour and Training Every candidate shall undergo practical training in a Pharmaceutical manufacturing unit / a Hospital with at least three specialities/ National research laboratory for a period of not less than 30 days (150 hours) after third year B. Pharm or fourth year B. Pharm. B Pharm degree will be awarded only after the training certificate from the training institute of having undergone the training successfully, is forwarded to the university by the Principal/Head of the department.
Attendance A minimum of 80% in both theory and practical classes separately is essential to ge t eligibility for sessional and university exam. Class test & viva: Regular class t est and viva of all subjects will be conducted in the college for the maximum marks of 20 and all the students must get min. of 16 in all subjects and marks to be ente red in class test report (CTR).
Internal Assessment marks Three sessional examinations (evenly placed) shall be conducted during the academic year. The average marks of best two examinations shall be computed out of a maximum of 50 marks to constitute the sessional marks.
Examination At the end of each year there will be exams to be conducted by the university during Sep t/Oct. for theory and practical subjects (Annual Exam) and after a gap of 6 months anot her exam (Supplementary Exam) during April/May. The students who secured a minimum of 50 % in university theory and practical exam separately and 50% in aggregate including inter nal assessment marks, will be declared pass.
Condition for Promotion to next higher class Candidates who have registered for the university examination of a class will be eligible for promotion to the next higher class. Candidates with 80% attendance in theory and practical separately shall register for the exam in the concerned year. Only registered candidates will be eligible for attending the next higher class. For registering for third B. Pharm, the candidate should have passed in all subjects of First B. Pharm and for registering for final B. Pharm examination the candidate should have passed in all subjects of Second B. Pharm. The maximum time allotted for completion of course is 8 years.
Internal Assessment marks During each academic year three sessional exams for theory paper will be conducted for maximu m marks of 20 and average of best two exams will be considered. For practical papers internal assessment marks for maximum marks of 20 will be awarded considering the students regularity , manipulative skill, viva voice during regular practical classes.
